I was trying to remember this book about a cat named Boris that I loved when I was a kid- the cover looked just like that pic, it triggered the memory! Finally remembered the title, "Cat 'o Nine Tales" by Veronica Leigh, out of print sadly. It was a memior about a tuxcat she adopted, very fun. Source of the phrase: "Insane Owl Manifestation."

That's a good phrase to describe this face.
