Slept late (wif cuddly HRTortie), eated eggs and BACON!, kittehs snoozed all afternoon/evening, stuffed self at soup and salad place with BFF's. Have to get our stomachs into (or out of) shape for Thursday.
TK not thrilled with the prescription gooshyfud, but is eating it ok so far. Not thrilled with extra-large cone, either, but only 6 more days for that.
Off to watch tonight's Amazing Race.
Right now, I'm sitting on the couch. Mr. LT is on the other end, with a conehead tuxie standing on him and kneading and purring. TK was trying to scratch his earz with him back foot a few minutes ago. Doesn't work, just click click click on the cone. Silly.
HRT is still mightily annoyed that the brat exists and is in her house and in her face. I swear, him being gone for 3 days set back their relationship (such as it is) at least a year. With the grrr and hiss and skitter. She's also mad at Mommy for not letting her sleep in the bedroom every night. She's just pretty darn grumpy except when I dish up teh gooshyfud, which she's mucho talky about. MAOW!
Oof. Now I haz a stanky TK on my lap. We'll all be glad when he gets the cone off. Him still teh big handsum tukseedo cat even with it on, though.
Went to the library today (Laurie, I got your friend's book about the penguin and the pirate), plus took my discount coupon and got a new pair of blue jeans for $2.18. Yay for $20 off!
I was all industrious and stuff and put dinner in the crockpot early. Porkchops with peach slices and a brown sugar/balsamic vinegar/spices sauce. It smells yummy, hope it tastes good.
Tomorrow I am venturing out again (two days in a row, whoa) for coffee etc. with lauowolf.
I really should have gotten a topic for
One of my videos is too big/long. However, this shorter one is the less-wobbly of the two, Although it has much less gnawing goofyness from tuxboy. I'll try to get the other one edited down for tomorrow.
Here's HRT and TK in the kitchen, and a guest starring passion fruit rind.
I tried to get a video of TK yesterday, playing with a toy absolutely nutzo, but of course, as soon as I turned on the camera, he just floomped down. Him's no help with mommy needing content!
HRTortie is apparently beyond the donut stage. I've offered her 3 of them so far this fall and she just doesn't care. More for me. But, again, no cute cat pix.
Last night I tried a new adventure in bread machine -- a raisin-pecan-cinnamon bread. You can't put hardly any cinnamon in the dough or it won't work. But other than that, it came out REALLY TASTY. I haven't had white bread in so long it's like a donut or cookie.
Nothing else happening. I'm off to slap some butter and extra cinnamon on a slice of that bread. Nom!
Science, math, and politics, illustrated mostly in food, and often silly (don't miss yin-yang in Oreos).
Sniffed canteloupe twice, but didn't really care.
Nommed the heck out of a passion fruit (we checked online to make sure it was safe). He practically grabbed it out of my hand. He's never done that before and the vine is older than him is.
Silly kitty.
Tortie uninterested in either. Her is much too regal.
The bread machine is creating another loaf for us hoomans. The kittehs aren't much for whole wheat, they like white bread and donuts.
My 2nd attempt at bread machine (this time with no kitteh "help" for double salt) just came out.
Whoa.
REALLY good.
Warm bread is always good (esp. with butter) but this is outstanding. It's whole wheat but it's very light and fluffy and even-textured.
Only a couple spoonfuls of sugar in the whole thing, and no HFCS, additives, preservatives or nothing. Flour, yeast, sugar, salt, milk.
Should be suitable for sammich making if it lasts until lunch.
Cleaning it is a slight hassle, but it's easier than the kneading and rising and punching and stuff. I mixed it up and then went out and bought gooshyfud and people groceries. Plus free entertainment watching the kitty ears swivel as it makes noise. HRTortie haaaaates it.
NOM NOM NOM.
And a happy Easter or Sunday to you all.
We went to brunch with the BFF's. Sadly, the flambe desserts were minus actual open flames, but they were yummy anyway and had bonus ice cream.
They had had eggs benedict, shrimp, lox, blintzes, turkey, pork, prime rib (tender, thin sliced and still mooing), gravy, pasta, chicken, muffins, bonbons, creme brulee, asparagus, melons, BACON, pancakes, sausage, scrambled eggs, tamale pie, croissants, salads, strawberries, AND all the orange juice and Champagne you could drink.
I have not had such a great selection since the last time I was in Vegas.
It was at a nice northern Italian restaurant which is very old-school, with the big red leather booths and the clientele who look like they were buddies of the Rat Pack or the descendents thereof. Nobody was yammering on cell phones, and even the kids were well-behaved. Very very civilized and grown-up and tasty.
We nommed till we popped and then rolled out the door. The check came with a little bag of tiny Nestle eggs.
I ate just short of too much. Plus last night I watched an hour or so of Heston vs. Brynner, always good.
Mr. LT worked from home today. So there was laundry done and a whole lot of sitting on the couch watching stuff that had piled up on the TiVos. Kitties were happy to have Fabulous Daddy home, and napped in the same room for a couple of hours without fighting. Just after I fed them their dinner, Mr. Moo showed up, ignoring eager TK and grouchy HRT. Him made me stay outside much longer than I had planned by rolling over on him back with front paws up and purring several times. Big fat kitteh knows how to work teh qte. Did his usual post-fud facing inside, some Stare, some dozing off and then quickly exiting when he'd had enough.
I whomped up dinner with a lot of help from our old pal Trader Joe. Sweet Potato Bisque soup, nuke in bag salmon (with just a squeeze of lemon from our tree), and basmati/wild rice pilaf, plus some dessert thingies with a French name. Nom nom nom. I've always said that our cats weren't fish eaters, and tonight proved it as I left a piece of salmon on the table unattended with both of them in the room for several minutes and it was untouched. Turkey they'll take out of our mouths.
Spotted Tux-boy watching something outside and turned on the porch light to spy a Damned Possum. It blinked its little beady eyes a few times and then lumbered off into the night. Did it show up last night when Moo left a few crunchies out? Nooooo, those were still there for the big guy's dinner tonight. Stooooopid animals.
One of the things we watched was on National Geographic Channel, all about how kitnz and lions develop and we FINALLY learned the proper term for the "whiskers" cats have on the back of their front legs! Mr. LT has always called them "curb-feelers" and we never found anyone who knew a real name. They are called "carpal hairs", and they're for balance. So I had to tickle all three cats' carpal hairs today.
Time for bed.
