I've been hibernating, drinking hot toddies, taking the Mucinex, and sleeping with the humidifier on. Still not well, but am better. My sinuses are still pretty grim, but I HAVE to go out Monday so I'll be spending the weekend in my jammies and napping.
The BFF's came by last night and delivered COOKIES. Choc. chip, cinnamon shortbread, and cutouts in festive shapes with frosting and sprinkles. Nom! Cookies make it much more Christmassy.
I may be coming down with a mild something. I know I've been sleeping with my mouth open the past two nights b/c there's no mistaking THAT feeling when you wake up. So I have a mega-stuffy nose and sore throat.
I was planning to go to Trader Joe's today to get the mixed frozen fruit I like that only they have and some Xmas goodies, but I am also sleepy and a little sore. You know, how your limbs are just a little achy and heavy? So I'm not sure if I should be driving and if I should be out there in the crowds of people with their worse diseases.
Oops, wandered off to feed kittehs and forgot to hit post.
Anyway, I decided a hot toddy was a much better idea. Mr. LT went out to the yard and picked some fresh lemons so I used that, plus ginger tea, honey, and some rum. I'm still sleepy (duh) but my throat doesn't hurt! :)
With cone of shame (regular-sized), shaved tummy from breastbone to entire butt (attention: udder impersonation!), stitches down said peenk tummy, shaved spots on both arms for IV, and a serious stank. Whoof. However, him alert, talky, and has already eaten crunchies.
Him was so happy to see us at the vet's, and even happy to run into his cat carrier. Even being called handsome by the vet tech did not assuage him. YOWL all the way home. Now we have the joys of getting liquid meds down him twice a day.
HRT has managed to avoid him so far. She got one final burst of total attention earlier.
He's "helped" me with this post a couple of times as well; I guess him's trying to say thanks for thinking of him.
Except for the smell, it's good to have the boy back.
If not worth it, at least him costs it.
Another $2,000!!!
Him has to stay overnight 3 days and have surgery -- he has a stone so huge that there's no way any kitteh could pass it.
Poor boy. Poor us.
TK is wandering from place to place -- sometimes the cat box, sometimes his favorite non-box places -- to pee. And he's only getting a few drops out.
This is exactly the pattern him had last year during his attacks of urinary blockage, after which he'd have to be hospitalized, catheterized, etc.
So it looks like him will have to go to the Bad Stinky Place again.
Him was supposed to be cured of this! And he can't eat the prescription crunchies, and we have no moneys, so we'll be going further into the credit card.
Good thoughts, plz.
That's pretty much how I feel.
I was sick all weekend and couldn't do anything. Didn't leave the house.
I'm still not well today. Very achy, headache, I feel grody even after I take a shower, can't sleep.
The only good thing about waking up early is that I got to feed Lord Moo his breakfast. He hopped up and looked in the window and I stood up before he could even get a WAOW out. Got to the door and he was sitting on him carpet square, waiting patiently. So cute.
He ate a TON of crunchies. I told him he was a good boy for leading (or at least tolerating) B.G. here and that BG won't be in Moo's territory any more. I skritched him a little and he is FILTHY, the grubbiest I've ever seen him. It hasn't rained for a while; I hate to think how greasy and dirty Moo will be this summer. He ate and ran.
TK was all excited, of course, HRT was "whatever". Then I fed them.
After that, we had a very small earthquake. HRT was sitting on the windowsill and she didn't move, just swiveled her ears during it. I don't know where TK was; I called to him when it was over and he strolled in the room very casual. Certainly a change from when he was a kitn. Mr. LT slept through it.
The only good thing is that tickets went on sale this morning for the Elton John/Billy Joel concert in November. We called ahead on Saturday to get AMEX to call in, get the tickets, and pay for them with accumulated points instead of actual moneys. We have a bunch of points to cash in before the card expires this summer. So, free concert from all those charges I've been running up at Trader Joe's and Target and Amazon. w00t!
EDIT: On Friday, I went to Walgreen's and they had SUGAR-FREE Peeps. I bought them. They're pretty close to the real thing, not as teeth-hurtingly sweet and the marshmallow goo is a skosh less fluffy. But they're very very very close. Same beady eyes and screaming yellow color.
Poor tuxboy is asleep and looking not so good. It breaks my heart.
We've decided not to wait till he clogs up again and has to have emergency care -- we're going to let him recover from this for a week or so and then have the surgery done.
Him's got another week of antibiotics and 3 days worth of kitty gatorade mix -- electrolytes, amino acids, proteins. I think he's going to have to deal with being confined to his room.
Him has to stay one more night and should be home tomorrow (Wed.) evening. Probably with the radar lampshade collar.
Vet says he has a narrow part in his urethra so that's why he gets blocked.
If it happens again, that will have to be removed -- which means an operation to...
(warning for squeamish women and all men)
cut off him you-know-what.
Lord knows how much THAT's going to cost.
HRT had to get some shots today so that's when FDaddy got the scoop on TK.
HRT's enjoying having the whole place to herself, at least. The song of the tortie is heard throughout the house. Damn cute. "mrr-OW, mrrr-OW, MRR-OW", repeat several times, in a trilling, musical fashion.
He's been fine, was perfectly fine today and then he just fell over under the coffee table. I messed with the end of his tail and he didn't do anything. Fabulous Daddy pulled him out and he then hid under/inside the couch. Daddy hauled him out again (which is quite a lot of work) and then we put him in his room while we discussed this. TK had been licking at his bits about half an hour before all this. So we went into his room -- it took both of us to grab him since he was trying to hide again -- and now FDaddy has taken him to the vet again.
aaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgggggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.
